Did you know the UK gets more tornadoes per square mile in an average year than anywhere else in the world! In an average year the UK is hit by 33 tornadoes. Most UK tornadoes are weak and short lived so many go un-noticed. Tornadoes form under strong thunderstorms or rapidly growing cumulus clouds and are often accompanied by hail, lightning and thunder.
