Mobile Data Plans in USA

It’s that time of year again when I will need large amounts of mobile
data in the USA. Does anyone know of a good Prepaid Wireless Data plan
that gives a good amount of data, with national coverage that doesn’t
need a US social security number or 12 month (or more) contract? I do
have one phone and account that will give me some data in most areas
but it’s not a system I really trust. I suppose one option is to rent
a car with a mobile broadband box.
